A suite of new supercharger kits has emerged for Dodge, Chrysler and classic Mopars. Vortech has introduced a high-output, charge cooled supercharging system for the 5.7L and 6.1L Hemi V8 Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. Paxton has also stepped up with their new blow-through supercharging system for carbureted Mopar vehicles.
Late-Model Chrysler and Dodge Hemi
Complete supercharging systems for 2006-2007 5.7L and 6.1L Chrysler/Dodge Hemi vehicles are now available from Vortech Engineering. Applications include Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum and Charger.
No piggyback control boxes, supplemental injectors, fuel lines or “add-on” fuel rails are required. The Vortech system uses the factory fuel rails and includes high-flow OEM replacement injectors.
The addition of the new V-3 Si-Trim centrifugal supercharger will increase crankshaft power up to 540 HP with additional torque up to 500 lb.ft. at 5.5 PSI. on 91 octane pump gasoline (SRT 8 systems).
The V-3 compressor has an advanced impeller design for ultra-high efficiency and features an internal oil reservoir (self-lubricated) that does not require a connection between the engine oil pan and the compressor gear case…no oil line.
The integrated dual-pass air/water charge cooler utilizes a closed-loop water-cooling configuration with a stand-alone pump, tank and front mounted heat exchanger.
Fuel management includes high-flow Mopar™ fuel injectors, 2-bar Map sensor (6.1L also includes a fuel pump voltage booster assembly) and DiabloSport™ Predator hand-held programmer, which controls ignition timing and fuel enrichment.
All components needed to bolt the system to a stock vehicle are included, such as compressor bypass valve, aluminum mounting brackets, all necessary belts, pulleys, fasteners and reusable high-flow air filter.
Available in satin or polished finish components. A 3-year/36,000 mile powertrain limited warranty is optional. Suggested retail price range is from $5684.95 to $6638.95.
Classic Mopar
Paxton Automotive supercharger system for carbureted Mopar vehicles includes 1967-1976 A-body models such as the Dart, Duster, Demon, Scamp, Valiant and the 1967-69 Barracuda with 318, 340 and 360 small block V8s. The new gear-driven supercharger will add 30-75% additional horsepower depending on boost levels.
This universal system includes Novi 1200 centrifugal supercharger capable of supporting 680 HP @ 20 PSI and a unique cast aluminum carburetor enclosure that pressurizes the float bowls and throttle shafts for a seamless response and correct air/fuel ratio.
In addition to the enclosure assembly, nickel plated billet steel mounting plates, belt
tensioner with dual bearing pulley, supercharger drive assembly, molded silicone discharge hose, compressor bypass valve and mounting hardware are among the items included in the systems.
A satin or polished finish is available and a three-year limited warranty on the supercharger is standard. Suggested retail price is $3295. Additional systems are in development for Mopar big-block vehicles and, depending on hood clearance, this system may fit B and E-body small-block cars.
